Childhood Immunizations

I chose the topic on childhood immunization. There have been several debates on whether it is good to get a child vaccinated. Some believe that it has several bad side effects that outweigh the good. Some do not think that it is necessary. According to:
“Immunity is the body’s way of preventing disease. When your baby is born, his/her immune system is not fully developed, which can put him/her at greater risk for infections. Vaccines reduce your child’s risk of infection by working with his/her body’s natural defenses to help safely develop immunity to disease. According to Center for Disease Control (2019)”:
· Your child is exposed to thousands of germs every day in his environment. This happens through the food he eats, air he breathes, and things he puts in his mouth.
· Babies are born with immune systems that can fight most germs, but there are some deadly diseases they can’t handle. That’s why they need vaccines to strengthen their immune system.
· Center for Disease Control. (2019). Making the Vaccine Decision: Addressing Common Concerns. Retrieved from https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/parents/why-vaccinate/vaccine-decision.html ((Strengthening your baby’s immune system).
Scutti (2018) “Europe requires all children born January 1 or later to receive 11 mandatory vaccines. “If parents refuse the mandatory vaccines, the main consequence will be that their children would not be accepted in schools” (Europe).
As an educator, it is important that we know about this topic because we will work with children on a day to day basis. Vaccinations or the topic of vaccinations can cause many controversial views, and educators need to be aware of what may happen and what needs to happen if the child in their class has not been vaccinated.

Hello,
I am glad that you chose the subject of vaccination. We are always aware of how important vaccines are for the healthy development of babies. Especially the recurrence of some diseases again in recent years is very scary.
