My Experience

I have learned a lot from this program. One thing is understanding for about the topic of -isms. There were so many and I had not heard of most of them. This course have enlightened me on the unfair treatment all people go through no matter the age, race, religion, etc. I have learned how to focus on the child and their strengths verses their weaknesses. This is how we encourage children and help them be more productive in life. The final thing I learned throughout this entire course is that biased behaviors come in many forms. Our families can contribute to that biased behaviors. As an educator, it is important to keep an open mind and not focus on what the child looks like or their economic status.

My long term goal is to constantly continue to learn and build on myself as an educator. I want to make a change in the lives of the children that I come across. I have enjoyed each and everyone of my classmates. I have learned so much through our discussions and interactions. I want to wish everyone the best of luck and I hope that I have made an impact on them as well. We must remember we are educators and what we do now will have a lasting impact on the children we come in to contact with as we progress.
