Effective Communication

When I think of a person with effective communication, my former President Barak Obama comes to mind. I have never seen so much pose and togetherness when it comes to a leader. He has been tested and tried by many and had never lost his cool. He was well spoken. When interrupted, he paused and let them continue. This is something I would definitely like to model. I can get really upset when I am being interrupted constantly. I think that this type of communication he exhibited is what you need to do when you are with others that are not respectful. It helps to lower the hostility and tension.
Hello,
You bring up some great points about communication, I agree that he never seemed to lose his cool. This is tough in communication especially when there is a disagreement, I also get upset when I am constantly interrupted. Thank you for sharing this with us.

Hello Dorothy,
When I first read the prompt for this assignment President Barack Obama was the first person to come to my mind and I almost wrote my assignment on him as well. He has a demeanor about him that invites people to listen and feel comfortable. He's great with eye-contact and other non-verbals. He listens and responds to what he has heard and not some other topic. He explains things in a way that speaks to the layperson as well as the academic or expert. I find him relatable and intelligent in his delivery.
Thanks for sharing.
Dorothy,
This is such a great point with today’s hostile political environment. I too have a hard time with interruptions and respecting someone when they don’t show listening skills.
