My Connections to Play

When thinking about play, I have chosen these two quotes to summarize what play means to me:

“Play is the highest form of research.” ~ Albert Einstein (Gowmon, 2019).

Attached are a few items I used in my play. I use to cook for my parents and also role play with my cousins. My families use to play like I served them real food and they even placed orders so that I could deliver it to them. They were very supportive. They even played along when I built things with blocks that were unrecognizable. This is funny to me know, but it did help me build self-esteem and learn that it is ok to think and be different.

Today, even though most of our kids are technology driven, is still similar to the past. I see a lot of parents still buying their kids play kitchen and cleaning toys. Play-do is still effectively used. They have also introduced slime. I think that falls along the lines of play-do and creating things with imagination. Role play has been essential throughout my growth. Play is important because it has taught me how to be independent, think on my feet, be creative, problem solve and much more. Play needs to continously be encouraged.

Awe!!! I really miss those cooking teaching lessons from my parents! It is because of my parents' love of cooking that I developed that love for cooking. My father is a Filipino and my mother is a Chamorro, and they love to cook. Great Post!
