When I think of how I communicate, I think that I am an effective and good communicator. I tend to listen for longer periods of time because I do not want to feel that I am interrupting. If I am upset, sometimes I talk over the person to try and get my point across. This is not a good thing because we just end up talking in circles. Others view me as a ok communicator. They say I make faces when I am listening that cause me to look uninterested. I was told that my facial expressions sometime is off-putting. This is something that I am working on so that this will not effect my job as an educator.
Hello,
It is interesting how we evaluate ourselves as communicators, sometimes we see ourselves in one way, and others see us differently. The fact that you can identify that talking over each other just leads to talking in circles is a great asset that you can use in communication to avoid that. I agree that my face can look that way as well; thank you for sharing with us.

Thanks for sharing Dorothy. Reflecting on the feedback we receive helps us monitor our actions and examine their impacts. This is something we probably should all do regularly. :-)
