I remember having conflict with my manager. She was always negative and just being a petty person. She would talk about her employees with other employees. It was just unprofessional. She would get smart with me in front of others and in meetings. One day, I asked her boss to mediate a meeting between the both of us to discuss the issue. I think that this assignment and the three R's really applied to what happened in the meeting. I was respectful and she was open to hearing what I had a problem with. I think that this really helped her understand what my problem was with her. She later apologized and worked on becoming a better manager. I thanked her. I also recognized her when she was doing something great to show her that I noticed she was working on bettering herself. This made the workplace much better and less hostile.
Hi Dorothy,
Having a manager that is professional and communicates in respectful ways helps make positive work environments and retains good employees. Its wonderful that you had access to someone who could mediate the situation!
Dorothy,
I respect that you called in a mediator. It is hard for many people to hear what they are doing wrong. Did your mediator have solid communicative skills? You are teaching your manager many things, by respecting her and helping her to succeed! Kudos to you!!!!!
